Finding a New Purpose For Your Old Nursery Furniture

So I was playing around on Pinterest recently and I found some really cool ideas for how to reuse cribs and changing tables.
If you havent heard, just recently most cribs have been re-called because of new safety laws for cribs. You are not even supposed to re-sale your old ones because of the safety hazards.
So there are millions of cribs that no-longer can be used.
What the heck do you do with all of them?
Well here are a few very cleaver ideas.

Wood Pallet Furniture

Ok so just recently I've fallen in love with wood pallet furniture!
So much in fact, that I'm planning on building bookshelves in my guest room from them!
What a great way to save something from the landfill; and its a great conversation piece!
Here are some pics of a few great pieces so that you can be inspired too!

Get Hooked

Recently I posted a blog about my most recent weekend project. I painted my hallway in stripes and then added a fun collection of hooks for hanging jackets, diapers bags, backpacks, etc...
Today I'm going to tell you how to make hooks from forks and spoons.
Its quite simple and quick!

Items you will need for this project:
A drill and drill bit to drill hole for screw
A screw
Fork or spoon
Wood piece in any size or color

Step 1: Bend the spoon or fork in middle to form a hook.

Step 2: Drill a hole in the center of spoon/fork handle

Step: 3 Center the spoon/fork where you want it to be placed on the wood; and screw the screw through the hole on spoon/fork onto the wood.

Step 4: Hang and enjoy!

Weekend Project: Bringing a boring hallway to life!

So this past weekend my hubby was out of town at a conference in South Carolina. So to keep myself busy I came up with this project! I decided to paint stripes throughout both sides of the hallway. Then I needed a place that my kids could hang their backpacks and the kids I babysit could hang their coats and diaper bags. I thought it would be fun to have a wall of different hooks. So I started collecting different hooks. Some I got at Hobby Lobby, a few from around the house, and then I had heard about making spoons into hooks. So after some research I came up with a plan on how to make a spoon and a fork work in my design.

Here's a BEFORE pic of my hallway

                          and here's AFTER

I will show you how to make the spoon/fork hooks in my next blog.
What weekend project have you been wanting to do?

Quick Tip: Cleaning Residue off of a glass jar

So I have this amazing jar that I thought would be perfect for a vase, BUT it had a sticker glued on it. They didn't want it coming off b/c it was stuck!
I soaked it in a little vinegar water, scrapped off the outer sticker and was left with the sticky residue. I looked up online natural tips on how to get it off and I found this tip!
Pour vegetable oil on it and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Then just scrap it off with your finger nail and wash with soap and water!
It worked great!
Go try it today!

The first project I would like to share with you is very cheap and easy.
I bought some frames at garage sales for .50 cents each and then my mother in law also contributed some to my collection for free!
I bought black spray paint for $2 a can and spray painted them all to match.
I also got scrape booking paper, cut it down to size and framed it out in a frame.
I printed out a silhouette for free from online.
and then lastly I had a decal left over from another project and so I used it for this project.
Arrange frames how you like them (there is really no art or science behind it, just having a good eye).
This project was so easy and cheap and it creates a great focal point in any room!
Have fun!
